FOXBORO — The Patriots quickly filled the two roster spots vacated by Rex Burkhead and Ja’Whaun Bentley going on injured reserve.

Running back Kenjon Barner and outside linebacker/defensive end John Simon were added to the active roster. In addition, David Jones has been signed to the practice squad and Jace Billingsley was released.

Barner was just released last week to make room for Cyrus Jones and now he's back a week later. He doesn’t have much experience running the ball, as he’s more of a returner. In 45 career games, he has 77 carries for 317 yards.

Simon has played in 54 games between three teams. His best season came in 2015 when he had five sacks with the Texans. He was released by the Colts at the end of the summer.

All of the new players were present at practice on Wednesday.
