When Demaryius Thomas was released by the Patriots Saturday, the thinking was he would return to the team relatively quickly, even as soon as the next few days.

Listen to your team news NOW.

But, maybe it won't be that easy.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Broncos are showing interest in bringing back the receiver that spent nine years with team before being dealt to Houston last season. It's a different coaching staff than what Thomas had during his time there, but many things remain the same.

As a vested veteran, Thomas doesn't need to pass through waivers and can sign with any team he wants, including the Patriots.

When Thomas spoke last weekend, he said the Patriots were the only team that showed interest in him this offseason when he was a free agent.

After tearing his Achilles last December, Thomas looked healthy in Thursday's preseason finale when he hauled in seven passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

Stay tuned, as more is likely to come in the coming days.
