Even though the Patriots were off on Tuesday, they were pretty busy working out free agents.

According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the team worked out eight players, including long snapper Jon Condo, kicker Andrew Franks, punters Jeff Locke and Colton Schmidt, linebackers Christian Kuntz and Terence Garvin, as well as wide receivers Tanner McEvoy and DeAngelo Yancey.

As always, this is a case of making sure the team is prepared in case of an emergency.

Kuntz is a familiar name as he spent one day on the Patriots roster last summer.

The wide receivers have NFL experience, as McEvoy was most recently released from the Saints' practice squad, but had spent time with the Seahawks and Dolphins prior to that. Yancey was drafted by the Packers in the fifth round last season, but was released from the practice squad earlier this month.

It was interesting that none of the players brought in were running backs.
