Nick Caserio reportedly not only Patriots front office member in contract year
A lot has been made of Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio potentially leaving for the Texans following this season, as they made a push for him to be their next general manager this offseason, but the Patriots filed tampering charges.
It will be a different story this coming offseason when Caserio's contract is said to be up, and he isn't the only important New England executive in a contract year.
According to MMQB's Albert Breer, Monti Ossenfort, the Patriots' director of college scouting, also has an expiring contract at the end of the season.
It will be interesting to see what happens, as if Caserio isn't interested in the Houston job, it could turn its attention towards Ossenfort, and the same can be said in New England if Caserio were to depart with Ossenfort potentially being promoted.
The Caserio situation will be fascinating to watch this year. Some have speculated he may have some of his duties taken away -- like being on the gameday headsets -- given the chance he departs for Houston after the season. From this perspective, we don't see anything changing, but it certainly will be worth watching.
Houston is an ideal place for members of the Patriots to go considering Bill O'Brien is the head coach, but also several former members of the organization are now in the front office, including Jack Easterby and James Liipfert.
