The Patriots will have a new punter in 2019.

Listen to your team news NOW.

According to Jim McBride of The Boston Globe, the team will be releasing Ryan Allen. This makes way for rookie Jake Bailey to be the new punter for 2019. The right-footed punter was drafted out of Stanford in the fifth round last April.

Allen has been with the team for six years and has played a major role in the team winning three Super Bowls, including having a monster game last February against the Rams.

Bailey has a massive leg and provides additional value by being able to kickoff. This could potentially help extend Stephen Gostkowski's career down the line. It's also likely Bailey will serve as the holder.

For Allen, being released now gives him a chance to catch on with another team, which he ultimately likely will.
