FOXBORO -- Shaq Mason is one of the best guards in the entire NFL and him missing the last two weeks with a calf injury has impacted the Patriots offense.

While the Patriots were able to get by the Packers easily, the Titans game was a different story. Tom Brady felt uncomfortable in the pocket all game long and the running game couldn't get anything going.

It appears fresh off the bye week, Mason will likely return this Sunday against the Jets.

“I’m ready whenever they let me,” Mason said Monday.

“[The bye] was very helpful,” he added. “Not just for me — for the rest of the team. Guys are sore. It’s been a long season. It’s a good week to rest up.”

Mason said he plans to practice this week, but he did prior to the Titans game on a limited basis and didn't make the trip. Missing the two games snapped a streak of 45 straight starts.

“It’s tough,” said Mason. “As a football player and a competitor, you want to be out there with your guys. So that’s been tough. But we had the bye, and we’ve got New York, so we’re ready to get back on track.”

Ted Karras filled in for Mason and did a decent job, but it was a big drop off from Mason.
