FOXBORO -- There was a noticeable difference this week when it comes to Rob Gronkowski.

Last week, the Patriots tight end was much more subdued and mellow in his weekly press conference, but this week he had his signature laugh and was joking with reporters at the podium.

The main reason for that? He says he feels much better physically after having to miss last Sunday's game in Chicago due to a bad back.

“Obviously, I feel better," he said. "I have been taking steps every single day forward. That is all I can ask for, taking steps every day forward and definitely at this time last week way better because every day I have been taking steps forward to get better and get back on the field to help out this team.”

Gronkowski added: “I feel good. Just doing everything that I need to do. Whatever the training staff, whatever I can do out on the field, whatever the coaches ask me to do. Just taking it day-by-day, one step at a time to get back out on the field.”

The Patriots will be taking on the Bills Monday night in Buffalo, which is special for the tight end since that is where he grew up.

“I mean it’s always special to go up there," he said. "This is like my seventh, eighth time going up there playing in Buffalo. It’s always an honor and it’s always special [to play] where you grew up watching them and everything. It’s cool. The atmosphere, you can’t ask for a better football atmosphere, either. I mean, especially coming this Monday night. It is going to be rocking there. It’s going to be poppin’. It is going to be one of the most electric atmospheres you can get in football I would say.”

Of course things can always change with a back injury, but Gronkowski expects to travel.

“Yeah, I expect to, yes. -- unless they tell me no," he said.

In 13 career games against the Bills, Gronkowski has 66 catches for 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns.
