The Patriots now have two open roster spots before training camp kicks off on Thursday.

On Uninterrupted, wide receiver Andrew Hawkins announced he's retiring. The 31-year-old said his body didn't respond the way he thought it would following OTAs and minicamp.

Hawkins signed with the Patriots on May 24 as a free agent after six years in the league.

The veteran wide out had little chance of making the roster with Julian Edelman, Brandin Cooks, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell and Danny Amendola ahead of him. This does open the door for undrafted rookie Austin Carr to get more reps and make a good impression.
