The Red Sox and Royals completed their Aug. 7 game Thursday afternoon at Fenway Park and it didn't take very long to finish.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Following the game being suspended due to rain a few weeks back, it was resumed in the top of the 10th inning with the Royals at the plate. Josh Taylor got out of the top of the inning with no issues, which set the stage for the Red Sox to come away with a 5-4 win in the bottom half of the frame.

With one out, Christian Vazquez doubled to left-center where he then exited the game for pinch-runner Chris Owings. Sam Travis was intentionally walked and then Brock Holt delivered a walk-off single that scored Owings.

The win cuts the deficit in the wild card to 6.5 games.

There was a healthy crowd on hand for the game. Fans under 18 were free and everyone else was $5 with all money going towards the Jimmy Fund.
