Former Red Sox general manger Ben Cherington has been out of work for a few weeks and it looks like it will stay that way for the foreseeable future. According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, Cherington is unlikely to pursue general manager openings this fall. Rosenthal added that teams have contacted him, but he is simply in listening mode. Cherington was the Red Sox' general manager for four years after being in the organization for over 17 years. He left the organization after Dave Dombrowski was brought on as president of baseball operations. For more Red Sox news, visit weei.com/redsox.
