When the Patriots signed Kenny Britt last year, it was said the organization had more than 2017 in mind.

New England made that official on Tuesday, as according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the team has picked up Britt's option for 2018.

Britt played in three games for the Patriots last year and finished with two catches.

Having a full offseason in the system will make things much easier for Britt to make an impact in 2018. Standing 6-foot-3, he can make an impact on the outside, which the Patriots lacked this season.

Britt, who will turn 30 in September, will be competing for a roster spot in training camp. The Patriots have a lot of depth at the position with Julian Edelman, Brandin Cooks, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell and potentially Danny Amendola in the mix.
