Report: Red Sox acquire 3B Carlos Rivero in trade with Mariners

According to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune, the Red Sox have acquired third baseman Carlos Rivero from the Mariners in exchange for cash. Rivero, 27, played in four games with the Red Sox last season going 4-for-7. He spent 2014 in the Red Sox' organization between both Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket. He didn't play in any games with the Mariners this year, but is slashing .256/.296/.372 with the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate.
