FOXBORO -- After missing all four preseason games with a reported slight tear in his knee, it seems like Rex Burkhead will be back on the field for Week 1 of the regular season against the Texans.

Burkhead wasn't on the injury report this week, and he said as much Friday.

“I’m looking forward to this week, getting back out there on the field,” Burkhead said. “We got a great challenge ahead of us, for sure with the Texans. Doing whatever we can with the little time left to really hone in on details and look forward to playing Sunday.”

But, does he feel 100 percent? The running back wouldn't say.

“I don’t really want to comment on anything like that but just looking forward to being back out there,” Burkhead said.

With Dion Lewis now in Tennessee, Burkhead has a chance to be the most impactful back in the Patriots backfield as he is a productive runner and can also catch passes out of the backfield. He showed what he can do last season when he had six touchdowns in a four-game stretch, but the biggest thing for him is staying healthy.

Despite missing most of the summer, Burkhead should see a ton of action Sunday.
