Rex Ryan sounds off on Patriots, Rob Gronkowski: 'He’s running with a piano on his back'

Rex Ryan knows a thing or two about the Patriots having gone against them a bunch when he was coaching the Jets and Bills.

Appearing on ESPN's "Get Up" Monday, Ryan had some interesting things to say about the team, particularly Rob Gronkowski.

“They are absolutely in trouble," he said. "I have been saying it for weeks now, they are not the same Patriot team. The reason why is simple: they’re older, they’re slower. And eventually Father Time catches up to you. If you look at Gronkowski, he’s running with a piano on his back. He’s not healthy. Tom [Brady>, some of the throws we’ve [seen>, his feet aren’t even set. That is not the Tom Brady you’re used to seeing. To me, that is the thing. The rush is bothering him. … This team is older and slower and they are desperate for the bye, and if they don’t get it, I think they are in trouble.”

With Sunday's loss to the Steelers, the Patriots are currently 9-5 on the year and if they don't win out and get some help from the Texans, they will be the No. 3 seed and need to play on wild card weekend.

As for Gronkowski, he had just two catches on five targets for 21 yards in the loss to the Steelers, which was particularly surprising given his dominance against them over the years.

Here's the full clip.
