Many people believe Rob Gronkowski will return for the 2019 season, but not one former teammate of his -- Sebastian Vollmer.

Vollmer believes he will stay retired.

“I don’t think, he will come back again," he said to Spox’s Adrian Franke in German, translated by Pats Pulpit. "Just looking at his physical shape, I don’t think he’d be able to pull it off.”

The former offensive tackle has a better idea of what Gronkowski will be going through than most, as he had to retire at age 32 following having shoulder surgery while also dealing with a hip injury at the start of the 2016 season. He officially retired in May of 2017 and lost nearly 75 pounds since his playing days at that time.

In all, Vollmer played seven NFL seasons, all with the Patriots, and is now doing some broadcast work for German television.
