Rob Gronkowski missed Sunday's game against the Bears with a back injury and now there are more specifics regarding the injury.

According to NFL Media's Mike Giardi, the Patriots tight end suffered from painful back spasms Friday, which caused the injury to get added to the injury report. The report adds a considerable amount of time was focused on alleviating those issues into Saturday, but it's being considered a "short-term thing."

The Patriots next play the Bills on Monday Night Football next week.

In addition, a team source indicated to Giardi Gronkowski has been dealing with quite a bit this season.

“He’s a tough kid," the source said. "All I’ll say is this year hasn’t been easy for him physically.”

Gronkowski hasn't played a full season since 2011.
