Patriots running back Sony Michel left Sunday's game against the Bears in the first half with what looked like a serious knee injury.

The rookie running back was tackled awkwardly by Bears defensive tackle Bilal Nichols and fumbled on the play. Michel was in pain right away and needed a lot of assistance getting off the field, not putting any pressure on his left leg, before being carted to the locker room.

After initially being declared questionable to return, he was ruled out coming out of halftime.

There wasn't any new information immediately following the game, but Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio offered a small update later Sunday night.

According to Florio, the Patriots are being "characteristically tight lipped about" the injury, but he will have a MRI Monday.

It appeared to be a serious injury, so it would not be a surprise to see the Patriots look into bringing in another back from outside the organization considering the lack of depth at the position.
