FOXBORO -- When Jeremy Hill suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's win over the Texans, Sony Michel became even more important to the team, and then with Rex Burkhead having a concussion, Michel became really important to the team.

Besides James White, Michel is the only semi-healthy running back on the active roster, as he was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. Michel has been dealing with a knee injury since Aug. 1, but returned to the practice field the week of the final preseason game.

It's unclear what his status will be for Sunday against Jacksonville, but Wednesday was the first time he's addressed the media since suffering his knee injury back in August.

"I’m doing all I can to prepare, whatever coach’s plan is," he said to reporters. "I don’t know what his plan is, but my mindset is to prepare as if I’m playing.”

Now that he's been back for a few weeks, Michel seems pleased with his progress.

“Feeling pretty good," he said. "Doing everything I need to do to get better and become a better player, whether it is in the film room, extra work. I am feeling pretty good.”

Regardless of whether or not Michel plays, the team will likely need to promote a running back or two from the practice squad. Right now, the options are Ralph Webb and newly signed Kenneth Farrow.
