Nick Caserio may not be only member of Patriots organization Texans are interested in

The Texans made a surprise move last Friday when they fired general manager Brian Gaine.

It was reported over the weekend the team and head coach Bill O'Brien will be interested in speaking with Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio for the vacancy, but another name to keep an eye on is Patriots college scouting director Monti Ossenfort.

Both Caserio and Ossenfort were denied permission to interview last year when the job was previously open, but who knows what will happen this time around. The two know O'Brien well and another layer to this is Jack Easterby now being in Houston after leaving the Patriots this offseason, and the word out of Houston is he will be part of the football-making decisions.

Caserio seems to be in a great spot with the Patriots with all of the aspects of the organization he is involved in, including being on the head sets during games. If he doesn't mind Bill Belichick having the final say on decisions, it's hard to imagine a better job. On the other hand, Ossenfort seems to be blocked by Caserio from advancing any further in the organization.

So, if Ossenfort wants to advance up the ladder of an organization, Houston seems like the perfect fit considering all the ex-Patriots he would be working with on a daily basis in O'Brien and Easterby.

This story will certainly be something to monitor over the coming days and weeks.
