The Patriots will kick off training camp Thursday morning at Gillette Stadium and Tom Brady still does not have a contract beyond this year.

Appearing on NFL Network Monday afternoon, Tom Pelissero gave an update on the current situation noting no deal appears close, but the team has been known to do deals in August and September.

“Tom Brady, as of now, is set to go into a contract year for the first time in his career," he said. "My understanding is no new deal is on the horizon at this point. It would be a unique type of a contract because nobody has played at this level and won as much as Brady has as he comes up on his 42nd birthday. But remember, the Patriots have a track record of getting deals done, including with Brady, in August and September. Stay tuned before we start figuring out where Brady could land in free agency in 2020.”

Brady got his contract tweaked last August and some have said a new deal cannot get done until a year has passed, while others have said that is not the case because he did not earn more money last season.
