Patriots quarterback Tom Brady joined Kirk & Callahan Monday morning for his weekly appearance where he discussed the loss to the Panthers on Sunday and looked ahead to Thursday night's game against Tampa Bay. To hear the full interview, visit the Kirk & Callahan audio on demand page.

New England won't have much time to dwell on the loss as they only have two days to prepare before traveling to Tampa on Wednesday. Most players have been highly critical of Thursday games in the past, but Brady said he doesn't mind them.

“I don’t know. I don’t mind it, personally," he said. "I actually think if you win the game on Thursday, it actually is a real positive because you get kind of the extended break over the next 10 days. You have to win the game. There’s a lot of preparation that goes into it physically and mentally over the next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. We’re already hitting it pretty hard. It really is a matter of how you play. If you win, I think it is a real positive. Hopefully we can go down to Tampa and win against a good football team.”

Brady admitted there is a lot that goes into the week and routines are thrown off.

“Yeah, it’s just a lot," he said. "We’re in such a routine, playing every seven days and then when you play in four days, you cram all that time. Mentally, you just have to do everything you can to get the most in. We’re playing on the road, so we’re traveling on Wednesday. It is just having the energy and being ready to go. We’re going to be as healthy as we can be. Everyone is going to work hard to do what they normally do, get their routine. We’re cramming a lot of things into a couple of days. It’s a big task, but hopefully we’re up for it.

"Every team is challenged with it at some point over the course of the season. Ours is at a decent time. We have to go out and play well. We’re playing a good team. They play well at home. They have a good offense. They have a good defense. We’ve played a lot of teams this year with good offenses and good defenses and we have to go meet the challenge. It’s time for all of us to realize the level of play we need to have in order to win these games. The margin of error is always slim in the NFL. None of these games are easy. We obviously haven’t done a good enough job over the first four weeks.”

So, what is the most important thing when getting ready for Thursday games? The hosts brought up pliability.

“Well, that is always important. You know me," Brady said. "That is very important for everybody. If everyone realized that there would be a lot less injuries in this world.”

Following are more highlights from the conversation. For more Patriots news, visit the team page.

On Stephon Gilmore: “I’ve always liked Stephon. He’s worked really hard. Some days some of those calls are tight. He’s working hard. You’re never going to point out one player on a 53-man team. Everyone has to do a better job. Whether that is the quarterback or the cornerback, safety, or the running back, we all are capable of doing better. We’re going to need our best effort moving forward. It’s still early in the year. We’re four games in. Nobody knows what kind of team we’re going to be. It’s still early, but I do know we can play better than the way we have been playing and to be 2-2, which is obviously very average in terms of the record, we have to play better in order to achieve a record that is better than average. We have to all figure out the things we need to do better and the plays we need to make and go out there and execute like the coaches are teaching us to do it.”

On starting 2-2: “I think we’re all disappointed. 2-2, is just a record, but just in terms of how we played yesterday, and what we need to do in order to play a lot better and win. It’s just — losing doesn’t sit well with any of us and hopefully we can figure out how to play more consistently over the course of an entire game. Offensively, we have to be able to score more points than the other team. No matter what they score we have to score more. If we score three points, the defense has to hold them to nothing. That is what being a good team is all about.”

On the Panthers' game-winning field goal drive: “I thought they were aided by a couple of penalties in terms of [the] drive, ones that we would have stopped. Deatrich [Wise] had a good sack and they called [Stephon] on that. They were calling it tight. The offense, we were just getting ready to go. Credit to them, they put together a good drive and then their kicker made the kick. Like I said, these games are all tight. They are good football teams. They are well-coached. Carolina, they have a real good offense. They have the No. 1 ranked defense. These aren’t bad teams we’re playing. It also tells you the challenge we need to meet. We have to keep grinding and figure out how to get better. Make improvements so we can score more points than them."
