Sunday night was a special night at Gillette Stadium, and it wasn't just the 33-3 win over the Steelers to open the season.

The Patriots raised their sixth Super Bowl banner in a pregame ceremony and had a few former greats return, including Ty Law, Willie McGinest, Martellus Bennett, Rob Ninkovich, Drew Bledsoe and Rob Gronkowski.

Appearing on The Greg Hill Show Monday, Tom Brady was asked about seeing his former teammates, especially Gronkowski.

“He’s the best. I love that guy so much," Brady said. "We’ve had just a great relationship and I think one thing about him is has such a youthful energy and spirit about him. It is great to see him enjoying life and he’s a very — he’s just one of a kind in the best possible way. He will be a success in anything he chooses to because you couldn’t ask for a better friend, teammate, person. He took a lot of pride in what he’s done and he’s earned everything that he’s gotten. He’s overcome a lot of things and he’s just a great friend. I loved seeing him have fun [Sunday] night.”

Added Brady: “It’s pretty cool to have that happen. I saw a lot of my ex-teammates [who] came back. I saw some in the locker room after the game, some before the game. It’s a great night for everybody to celebrate."

As for the current team, Brady said they were solely focused on the game.

"This current team was focused on what we had to do to get to 1-0," he said. "It was a long week of practice. There was a lot to prep for, but we played a solid game. A pretty clean game with not a lot of penalties, not a lot of turnovers. It always feels good to start the season on a good note. 1-0 is a good place to be and now we have to get back to work right away and try and go down and beat Miami and play in a place where we haven’t had the most success. That will be a big point of urgency for us this week.”

Brady and the Patriots will take on the Dolphins next Sunday in Miami.
