One of the biggest takeaways from the Tom vs. Time epilogue released this week was Tom Brady saying parts of the last two years were not enjoyable for him. This was noteworthy since the Patriots went to the Super Bowl, including winning Super Bowl LI, in those two seasons.

"The last couple years, a lot of parts about football weren't enjoyable when they should have been," Brady said in the epilogue. "Some of it was my approach. And you know, I think any time you are together with people for a long period of time, relationships ebb and flow."

Speaking to Jim Gray prior to Thursday Night Football on Westwood One Radio, Brady explained what he meant by saying some parts weren't enjoyable.

“I think there’s a lot of — when you play football there’s a lot of the sport I love. I love being on the field playing the game and I think sometimes it can feel like there are a lot of other obligations that come along with football that if you let those take too much of an impact or toll you can bring those onto the field," Brady said. "I think being in it for 19 years, I have grown a lot. I have learned a lot. It comes down to prioritization and I think this offseason was great for me to really spend a lot of time with my family, catching up on things I never opportunities to do, to really refocus and reenergize for what really is a marathon of a season. It is a lot of energy and effort that you put out and you want to have everything in your tank ready to go.

"The thing I am excited about is I feel great, my body feels great, my mind feels great. We’ve had a good camp and I am really looking forward to the season.”

Brady and the Patriots open the 2018 season Sunday against the Texans.
