With the Red Sox continuing to fight for relevance in the AL wild card race, Andrew Benintendi’s bat is one of the few things staying consistent. This week he became just the second Sox player to record at least three hits and a home run in three consecutive games.

Listen to your team news NOW.

In the third game of the Yankees series, Benintendi homered to right in the second inning before adding two doubles late in the game en route to a 9-5 victory. The very next night, he took a curveball deep to right field that scored Xander Bogaerts and two more singles helped him reach the three-hit mark in a 9-6 loss. Game 1 of the Rays series saw Benintendi tally two singles and a homer off lefty pitcher Adam Kolarek to left field in a 6-5 losing effort.

Boston desperately needs to win games and Benintendi is doing his part to help. He’s looked really strong at the plate as of late, batting .481 in the last week and racking up 109 hits to go with 11 home runs this season. The Sox have one more game at home against the Rays before heading to the Bronx over the weekend.
