On Wednesday afternoon, the Red Sox battled the White Sox in a high scoring affair at Fenway Park. Boston’s batters had 15 hits and the firepower started with J.D. Martinez who’s adding to his convincing all-star resumé.

In the bottom of the first, Martinez blasted a homer 400 feet to center field scoring Rafael Devers and cutting the deficit to just one. Trailing 6-3 in the bottom of the 7th, Martinez scored Devers again, this time on a double to deep right center field. Martinez kept the Red Sox alive but the rest of the guys made a late push for the lead. They were just half an inning away from a series sweep of the White Sox but gave up a two-run shot in the top of the ninth and dropped the third game 8-7.

With an average of .287, Martinez notched his 17th home run and 45th RBI of the season. The right fielder is hoping to win over the votes of fans to go play at the 90th MLB All-Star Game in Cleveland.
