Add Gordon Hayward to the long list of Fortnite-obsessed athletes, but don’t get it twisted. According to his newest blog post, Hayward doesn’t just dabble in the video game -- he’s the Fortnite King. And he challenges any athlete from any sport to dethrone him.

“It would be actually really fun to have an all-NBA Fortnite match or something. I’ve been playing for a few months now, so I’m pretty confident I could come out on top,” Hayward wrote. “In fact, I’d almost guarantee it, and I’d be happy to take on anyone from any other sport, too. Anybody up for the challenge?”

The Celtics star forward has been open about his avid gaming habit since he appeared on The Rolling Stone’s How I Play series back in November.

He was admittedly late to the party with Fortnite, though. He got into it when his surgery in May had him “stuck in a boot.”

“I was definitely a Fortnite hater at first. I didn’t want to get into the game. I felt like it was too slow,” he wrote. “...But every one of my friends was playing Fortnite, and they finally got me to get on it a little bit. And now I’m addicted. If you were to ask (wife) Robyn, she would say, ‘He’s addicted.’ But Daddy’s always happy when he’s gaming, so it’s all good.”

Hayward revealed that just like the Red Sox, many of the Celtics love the game.

“Pretty much every athlete I know has at least played a little,” he wrote. “Everybody on our team plays.”
