Julian Edelman first got the TD Garden crowd fired up when he served as the Bruins' honorary banner captain before Tuesday's Game 7, a 5-1 Bruins win. He then got the crowd even more fired up when he appeared on the jumbotron late in the first period and promptly chugged a beer.

The Bruins took notice, and coach Bruce Cassidy said he appreciated Edelman's efforts.

"I loved the atmosphere in the building right from the get-go," Cassidy said. "Game 7. Every night here. Same in Toronto, I gotta say. A couple of loud buildings, Original Six franchises, hungry, great fan support.

"Julian Edelman chugging a beer was awesome. Probably got everyone fired up, including us. Good for him. We’ll return the favor at some point down the road. I thought it was outstanding. That’s Game 7 playoff hockey for you right there."

Edelman was the second Patriot to serve as honorary banner captain this series, as the recently retired Rob Gronkowski did the honors for Game 2. Johnny Bucyk took Game 1 and Marc Savard had Game 5.

We'll see what the Bruins have in store for the second round, which begins Thursday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
