Bruins-Blue Jackets Game 1 set for Thursday night at TD Garden

It will be a quick turnaround between series for the Bruins.

After beating the Maple Leafs 5-1 in Tuesday night's Game 7 to close out the first round, the B's will open the second round less than 48 hours later when they host Game 1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday night at 7 p.m.

The rest of the series schedule has not yet been announced, although it's a pretty safe bet that Game 2 will be sometime Saturday. Cher plays at TD Garden Sunday night, so that day would be off the table.

The Blue Jackets, meanwhile, have been resting for a week, as they completed their stunning sweep of the top-seeded Lightning last Tuesday.

After the game, Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said he doesn't mind the quick turnaround, noting that his team is pretty healthy (and actually got healthier as the first round went on) and that resting some guys leading into the first round may have led to some rust.

"I don't mind the quick turnaround necessarily when you're playing well," Cassidy said. "Our last two games we have played well. I thought the start of this series, we had time off, we rested players, we had a couple practices. Maybe it's too much information. They're overloading. This way they won't be able to. They'll get a little bit Thursday morning."

The Bruins took two of three from the Blue Jackets in the regular season, with all three meetings coming in the final month of the season. Cassidy said seeing Columbus recently should also help overcome the quick turnaround.

"The good news is we saw them three times late in the year," Cassidy said. "That'll help with our preparation. It should help with the players."
