The Patriots look to bounce back from last week’s stunning walk-off loss to the Dolphins when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field Sunday afternoon.

This will be the Patriots’ last road game before the playoffs, and they still have all kinds of questions to answer, as they’re just 3-4 away from Foxboro this season. In addition to last week’s loss in Miami, they were barely even competitive in bad losses at Jacksonville, Detroit and Tennessee.

Perhaps a trip to Pittsburgh will be just what New England needs to find some confidence on the road. The Patriots have won their last five games against the Steelers and five of their last six in Pittsburgh. In his career, Tom Brady is 8-2 against the Steelers with 25 touchdown passes and just four interceptions.

In addition to their historical dominance over the Steelers, New England is also catching Pittsburgh at a good time. The Steelers have lost three straight coming in, including a 24-21 loss against the lowly Raiders last week.

The losing streak has dropped the Steelers’ record to 7-5-1 on the season and put their playoff hopes in jeopardy, especially given that their next two games are against the 9-4 Patriots and 11-2 Saints.

Although the Patriots’ playoff chances still look safe, they have a lot to play for as well, as they’re currently tied with the Texans in the race for the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye (the Patriots own the tiebreaker).

The Chargers’ win over the Chiefs Thursday night also cracked open the door for the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage again. The Patriots are now one game back there and could finish first if they win out and the Chargers and Chiefs (both 11-3 now) each lose at least one more game.
