A night after being held to one run, the Red Sox hope the return of David Ortiz after a rare night off can give the offense a spark. Ortiz has had plenty of success against Friday's Kansas City starter, Ervin Santana, recording a .333 average and 1.105 OPS in 32 career plate appearances against the righty. Mike Napoli, who is mired in a 1-for-19 slump, is batting sixth for the second night in a row after hitting fifth most of the season. Like Ortiz, history is on Napoli's side when it comes to facing Santana, as he is hitting .333 with three home runs and a 1.344 OPS in 20 career plate appearances. Jake Peavy will be on the mound for the Sox, making his second start in a Boston uniform. For complete batter vs. starting pitcher matchups, click here.
