Earlier today, WEEI reported that Will Middlebrooks would be called up from Pawtucket prior to Saturday night's game against the Royals. The Red Sox lineup confirms that Middlebrooks is back with the team and back in the lineup. He's playing third and batting ninth in his first big-league game since June 20. Other changes include Mike Carp replacing Daniel Nava in left field, as well as the five-hole. Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Stephen Drew flip spots, with Saltalamacchia batting seventh and Drew eighth. Seven of the Red Sox' nine starters have an OPS of .838 or better against Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie. Drew has never faced the righty, while Middlebrooks is 0-for-3 against him. Felix Doubront will get the start for the Red Sox. The lefty is looking for a 16th straight start of allowing three earned runs or fewer. He has a 2.55 ERA since the streak started on May 16.
