Thursday Red Sox Farm Report: Edgar Olmos tosses 5 no-hit relief innings

Here is a look at what happened in the Red Sox farm system on Wednesday.

TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (27-27): W, 6-1 vs. Syracuse; W, 3-0 vs. Syracuse

— In Game 1, Brian Bogusevic led the PawSox by going 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the second inning.

— Allen Craig also had a successful day at the plate going 2-for-2 with a RBI, a double and a walk. Craig is on a four-game hit streak. Craig has been hitting .240/.363/.327.

— Henry Owens threw 4 1/3 innings, allowing just one run, two hits and three walks with three strikeouts. In 11 starts, the southpaw has posted a 4-4 record with a 3.88 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP.

— In relief of Owens, Marcus Walden and Jamie Callahan combined to throw 2 2/3 innings, allowing no runs, a walk and two strikeouts.

— Pawtucket pitchers combined for a shutout in Game 2. Hector Velazquez started the game, but was pulled from the game after one inning, after giving up no hits and no walks with one strikeout. Velazquez was not injured, but was pulled just in case Brian Johnson can’t make the start for the Red Sox on Friday.

— In relief of Velazquez, Edgar Olmos threw five innings, allowing no hits and two walks with no strikeouts. Following Olmos, Kyle Martin got the save by throwing one inning, allowing two hits and one walk, while striking out two.

— Rusney Castillo was 1-for-3 with a double and Heiker Meneses was 1-for-2 with a RBI.

DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (24-30): L, 21-4 vs. Akron; L, 7-6 vs. Akron 

— It was a rough day on the hill for Elih Villanueva. The righty lasted 3 1/3 innings, allowing eight runs (seven earned), 10 hits, one walk with three strikeouts. Villanueva was signed to a minor league contract on June 4.

— Josh Tobias went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs. In 29 games with Double-A, Tobias is hitting .282/.317/.373.

— In Game 2, Mike Olt went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a double and a home run.

— Starter Jake Drehoff threw three innings, allowing six runs (five earned), seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

— In his second appearance in Double-A, Bobby Poyner threw four innings, allowing no runs, just three hits, while striking out six.

HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (36-23): L, 5-3 vs. Lynchburg

— Jose Sermo went 1-for-4 with a home run.

— Matthew Kent threw 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs, two home runs, eight hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

— Austin Glorius and Marc Brakeman combined to throw 2 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and three walks, while striking out five.

SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (35-23): W, 5-3 at Hickory

— Ryan Scott went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

— Chris Madera was 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk with three runs scored.

— Darwinzon Hernandez threw one inning, allowing two runs, two hits and two walks with one strikeout.

— Robby Sexton picked up the win throwing six innings, allowing no runs, just two hits and no walks with five strikeouts.
