Torii Hunter takes stock of Red Sox bullpen police officer Steve Horgan

DETROIT -- Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter, whose headlong crash into the Red Sox bullpen in pursuit of the game-tying grand slam launched by David Ortiz in Boston's eventual 6-5 walk-off victory over the Tigers on Sunday night, took some playful barbs at Steve Horgan, the bullpen police officer who raised his fists in a Rocky-like gesture of triumph as Hunter crashed over the fence. The contrast between Hunter and Horgan, of course, immediately emerged as the central image of the Sox' comeback. Asked about Horgan, Hunter took a few good-natured, tongue-in-cheek shots at the police officer. "I should have kicked [the cop] in the face," Hunter jested during Monday's off-day workout. "I want to thank the Red Sox bullpen for checking on me. That was awesome. ... They put [the game] aside in favor of human life, unlike the cop. Protect and serve? They ought to take that off his badge."
