Tuesday Red Sox Farm Report: Jackie Bradley Jr. hits 2 home runs in Pawtucket loss; Sam Travis lifts Portland in walkoff win

A look at the action in the Red Sox farm system on Monday: TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (41-55): L, 7-3, at Norfolk (Orioles) -- Jackie Bradley Jr. carried the Pawtucket offense with a pair of home runs. The center fielder hit a two-run shot to right in the first inning and a solo home run to right-center in the third. He finished the day 2-for-4. Bradley is hitting .315 with nine home runs and 27 RBIs in 64 games in a PawSox uniform this year. -- Including Bradley'€™s home runs, the PawSox offense combined for seven hits. Catcher Humberto Quintero went 2-for-4 with a double and Travis Shaw, Garin Cecchini and Marco Hernandez each added singles. -- Right-hander Jess Todd took the loss, yielding all seven Norfolk runs -- five earned -- on 10 hits, including two home runs, and one walk. He also recorded two strikeouts. Todd is now 3-4 wth a 5.35 ERA in 11 starts and nine relief appearances for Pawtucket this season. -- The PawSox have just three wins in the month of July. DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (34-62): W, 5-4, vs. Trenton (Yankees) -- First baseman Sam Travis hit a two-out grounder to short with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to score Tzu-Wei Lin and give Portland the walkoff win. Trenton shortstop Ali Castillo threw to third, but was unable to get the out. Travis finished the day 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Travis has hit safely in his last six games and is hitting .308 with 14 RBIs in 24 games since his promotion to Portland. -- Catcher Tim Roberson went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Third baseman Reed Gragnani went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored and center fielder Manuel Margot went 2-for-5. -- The win went to Simon Mercedes, who gave up the tying run in the top of the ninth. He finished with one earned run on one hit and two walks with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. The right-hander is 2-2 with a 3.94 ERA in 24 appearances this season. -- Right-hander William Cuevas started for Portland, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings of work. He also struck out 4. Cuevas is 8-5 with a 3.36 ERA after 17 starts. -- Monday marked the fifth walkoff win for the Sea Dogs this season. HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (49-46): L, 4-1, at Myrtle Beach (Cubs) -- Righty reliever Kyle Kaminska entered Monday'€™s game in the second inning and pitched six innings after starter Teddy Stankiewicz was hit in the head by a line drive at the end of the first. Stankiewicz exited the game under his own power and gave up one unearned run and one hit in the frame. Kaminska took the loss, giving up three earned runs on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts. Kaminska is 1-1 with two saves and a 2.35 ERA in seven games for Salem this season. -- Shortstop Mauricio Dubon accounted for the only Salem run Monday, hitting a solo shot to left-center to lead off the first inning. The home run was Dubon'€™s first with the Sox after hitting four with Greenville earlier this year. In 22 games with Salem, the 21-year-old is hitting .203 with seven RBIs. -- Right fielder Kevin Heller was the only member of the Salem lineup to record two hits Monday, finishing the day 2-for-3. Heller is hitting .298 through 51 games with Salem this season. -- Mario Martinez finished 0-for-3 with a walk to snap his 14-game hitting streak. Martinez, who was the designated hitter Monday, is hitting .278 with 17 doubles, four home runs and 39 RBIs. SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (50-45): L, 3-2, vs. Asheville (Rockies) -- Jamie Callahan suffered the loss after allowing the go-ahead run in the eighth running. The run was unearned and Callahan allowed just two hits and no walks over three innings of relief. He also struck out two. The right-hander fell to 3-6 and has a 5.46 ERA in 20 appearances this season, including six starts. -- Left-hander Jake Drehoff started for the Drive, giving up two earned runs on seven hits. He walked none and struck out two. Drehoff is 1-1 with a 3.12 ERA in 15 appearances -- including four starts -- for Greenville this year. -- Second baseman Yoan Moncada and designated hitter Rafael Devers each had an RBI. Moncada went 1-for-3 and Devers went 1-for-4 with a double. -- Shortstop Javier Guerra posted the only two-hit game for the Drive Monday, finishing the day 2-for-4. -- Greenville has lost three straight games. SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A LOWELL SPINNERS (16-14): L, 5-4, vs. Staten Island (Yankees) -- Right-hander Edwar Garcia suffered his first loss of the season, giving up a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth. Garcia allowed two hits and one walk in 2/3 of an inning. The 21-year-old from the Dominican Republic is now 3-1 with a 1.88 ERA in 14 1/3 innings over nine relief appearances. -- Righty Jose Almonte started Monday, allowing four runs -- two earned -- over five innings of work. He gave up four hits, walked one and struck out five. Almonte is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA in six starts this season. -- Left-hander Matt Kent tossed three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and three walks with two strikeouts, lowing his ERA to 1.47. Kent is 2-0 after six appearances. -- Right fielder Luis Alexander Basabe and center fielder Andrew Benintendi both homered Monday. Basabe hit solo shot in the fifth inning a and finished the day 1-for-5 with two RBIs and a stolen base. Benintendi hit a solo shot in the sixth and went 1-for-3.
