Tuesday Red Sox Farm Report: PawSox lose 8th straight on walkoff inside-the-park home run; Andrew Benintendi homers in Spinners win

A look at the action in the Red Sox farm system on Monday: TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (44-72): L, 2-1, at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Yankees) -- Heath Hembree gave up a walkoff inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre center fielder Ben Gamel as the PawSox lost their eighth consecutive game. Hembree took the loss, falling to 0-4, after recording two strikeouts in the eighth inning before allowing Gamel'€™s inside-the-parker to leadoff the ninth. -- Matt Barnes started for the PawSox and tossed 4 2/3 innings. The right-hander allowed one earned run on six hits, while walking three and striking out five. Barnes has pitched in 16 games for Pawtucket this season, including five starts, and is 1-1 with a 5.16 ERA. -- The Pawtucket offense struggled once again, totaling just four hits. Right fielder Jonathan Roof scored the only run after leading off the sixth inning with a double. He crossed the plate on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt by Jeff Bianchi. Roof and Bianchi both finished the day 1-for-3, shortstop Marco Hernandez went 1-for-4 and left fielder Garin Cecchini went 1-for-4 with a double. Next action Tuesday vs. Asheville (Rockies) SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A LOWELL SPINNERS (26-24): W, 7-4, at Tri-City (Astros) -- Left fielder Brandon Magee led the Lowell offense, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, a walk, three RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases. The solo homer was the first professional home run for Magee, who is hitting .245 with eight RBIs through 21 games with the Spinners this season. -- Center fielder Andrew Benintendi also homered for Lowell, hitting a two-out solo shot to right-center field in the top of the first inning. He finished 1-for-2 with three walks and a stolen base. Benintendi has hit safely in his last four games and is hitting .263 on the season with five home runs and 13 RBIs. -- Third baseman Mitchell Gunsolus went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Chad De La Guerra, who played second base and shortstop, went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. -- Lefty reliever Matt Kent improved to 5-0, tossing 3 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the victory. Kent allowed three hits and one walk and struck out three. He has made 10 relief appearances for the Spinners this season and has a 1.07 ERA. -- Right-hander Jose Almonte started for Lowell Monday and went four innings. The 19-year-old allowed four runs -- two earned -- on three hits and four walks. He also struck out four. Almonte is 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA after 10 starts.
