Addison Reed is not the only move the Red Sox have made on a deadline Monday, as they have recalled righthanded reliever Austin Maddox from Pawtucket, according to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski.

To recall Maddox, the Red Sox optioned lefty Robby Scott back to the PawSox.

Scott’s move to the minors comes after Scott made appearances in three straight days, with 36 pitches thrown over 2 2/3 innings in a three-game series against the Royals.

The 26-year-old Maddox last appeared in an MLB game on July 16, pitching 1 2/3 innings in a 3-0 loss to the Yankees. Maddox has appeared in three MLB games this year, recording two strikeouts and surrendering four hits and zero runs in 3 2/3 innings.

In the minors, Maddox is 2-3 with five saves and a 3.20 ERA over 29 games between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket this season, and threw a perfect seventh inning of relief just one night ago, in a loss to the Indianapolis Indians.

The Red Sox continue their homestand with a head-to-head against the Indians tonight at Fenway Park.
