Tommy Wingels comments on Kadri hit, will be game-time decision tonight

Bruins forward Tommy Wingels is feeling a lot better than he did Thursday when Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri boarded him into oblivion.

That's all he could probably ask for, too, if we're being honest.

But on the heels of Kadri's three-game suspension, and with the 30-year-old Wingels participating in an optional morning skate at Warrior Ice Arena Saturday, Wingels was forced to give his thoughts on what could be a series-altering suspension.

“I didn’t like the hit. I think I was in a vulnerable spot and I think as a game, as a league, as players, that’s the stuff we don’t want in our game," Wingels said. "It was handled with, and I think the league did a good job. Now it’s completely in the past, there’s no need to talk about it, that’s kinda my comment on it."

Knocked out of the game on the hit -- oddly enough, Wingels' final three shifts of the night all ended with penalties drawn by the Bruins -- additional pressing on the hit was not something Wingels had any sort of interest in discussing.

"Similar to the hit, similar to Game 1, it’s in the past, it’s over with. My focus is on Game 2," Wingels remarked. "I wanna move on here. I know you guys wanna write stories and my comments on it. But I’ve always had the mentality that when Game 1 ends, that everything from Game 1 has to be put in the rearview mirror."

As for his availability for tonight's Game 2, Wingels is going to see how he feels upon arriving at TD Garden.

"Feeling better now, [I'll] come to the game tonight and see how things feel tonight," Wingels said when asked if he's well enough to play tonight. "I can’t give an answer right now."

If Wingels is unable to go, Ryan Donato seems likely to jump into the lineup on a third line with Noel Acciari and David Backes, according to B's coach Bruce Cassidy.
