Thursday Red Sox Farm Report: Brandon Phillips goes 1-for-3 in Spinners win

Here’s what happened in the Red Sox farm system on Wednesday.

TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (41-46) – Scheduled day-off

DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (34-53) – Scheduled day-off

HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (44-44): W, 5-4 vs Winston-Salem

-- C.J. Chatham,’s No. 10 Red Sox prospect, finished 3-for-4 with an RBI to lift his season batting average to .324. While registering 188 at-bats, Chatham leads the team in average, and is fifth on the team in hits (61).

-- Tyler Hill picked up two hits and an RBI to bring his runs-driven-in mark to 21 and average to .244.

-- Starter Jake Thompson, who ended up with a no-decision, went five innings while giving up five hits, four runs (three earned), and four walks while striking out two. In 16 starts and 85 2/3 innings, the 2017 fourth-rounder out of Oregon State has a 4.62 ERA.

-- In relief, Algenis Martinez towed two innings of work and struck out four, allowing only one hit. Harrison Cooney earned the win after shutting down Winston-Salem in the games final two innings. Cooney struck out two and walked one, and now holds a 3.00 ERA in six innings pitched.

SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (36-53): W, 6-4 vs Rome

-- Kervin Suarez extended his hit streak to six (second straight multi-hit game), with a 2-for-4 day, jumping his average to .259. The 19-year-old scored twice, drove in one RBI and was halfway to a cycle, finishing with a double and triple.

-- Marino Campana and Samuel Miranda both collected two hits and each scored once. Miranda also added an RBI to his stat line.

-- Starter Kutter Crawford earned the win, and lowered his season ERA to 2.83 with a 6 1/3 inning performance. The righty struck out six and surrendered only one run, to pull his record on the year to an even 4-4.

-- Durbin Feltman, a third round pick last month, struck out the side to earn his first save with Greenville.


-- Brandon Phillips went 1-for-3 with an RBI in his fourth game with the Spinners. The 37-year-old’s average now rounds out to .267.

-- Kole Cottam, this year’s fourth-round pick, came up a single short of the cycle. He hit a solo home run in the eighth and finished with a line of three hits, one run, and two RBIs.

-- Seventh-round pick Jarren Duran went 2-for 4 with a run scored and an RBI to bring his season totals to a .357 average, 18 runs scored and 10 RBIs. Tyler Esplin also went 2-for-4, doubling and scoring twice.

-- Andrew Politi recorded his second save of the season after going 1 1/3 inning while serving up two hits, walking one, and striking out two.
