Boston Globe places Kevin Cullen on paid administrative leave in wake of Kirk & Callahan's revelations

April 20, 2018 - 5:02 pm

After announcing earlier Friday that it was conducting an internal review of his work, the Boston Globe said Friday afternoon in a statement that it is placing columnist Kevin Cullen on paid administrative leave. The decision comes in the wake of revelations brought to light by WEEI's Kirk & Callahan show that Cullen seemingly embellished and fabricated stories about the Boston Marathon bombing.

Cullen's missteps, chronicled on K&C over the last two days, include inaccurate reports about the Richard family and changing accounts of where he was when the bombs went off. For complete details, click here.

"The integrity of each of our journalists is fundamental to our organization," the Globe said in its statement. "In light of questions that have publicly surfaced, Kevin Cullen has been placed on paid administrative leave while a thorough examination, involving a third party with expertise, is done of his work. We will be transparent with the results of the review."
