Off Day podcast: How should Patriots' offensive line look?

September 19, 2019 - 10:13 am

While the Patriots are 2-0, everything is not perfect, especially on the offensive line.

Listen to your team news NOW.

On top of a few players retiring before training camp, David Andrews being out for the year with blood clots in his lungs, the team is also dealing with injuries to both its tackles. Marcus Cannon (shoulder) missed Week 2, while Isaiah Wynn was placed on injured reserve this week with a foot/toe injury.

The offensive line was a major topic of discussion on this weeks Off Day podcast with Andy Hart and Ryan Hannable.

“I think Joe Thuney is your left tackle," Hannable said.

He believes Thuney will slide outside to left tackle and then newcomer Caleb Benenoch will play left guard.

“He started 16 games last year in Tampa Bay at right guard," said Hannable. "He’s an interior lineman, does have some versatility, but he is mostly an interior lineman. Why did you bring him in [on Tuesday>?”

Hart disagreed with Thuney playing left tackle.

“Is he better than Marshall Newhouse? And is your line with Thuney and Benenoch better?,” he asked.

The two also discussed Antonio Brown and his fit with the team, as well as getting into this weeks matchup with the Jets.
