Ex-NHL forward rips Bruce Cassidy: Piece of [expletive], don't know how he is still a coach

Apparently former NHL forward Bates Battaglia is not a fan of his coach for one season in Bruce Cassidy.

Battaglia bounced around the league, spending most of his career with the Hurricanes in the early 2000s, but he spent one year with the Capitals when Cassidy was the coach in the 2003-04 season before he was fired after the first 25 games.

Appearing on Barstool Sports’ “Spittin’ Chiclets" podcast, Battaglia ripped his former coach.

"Oh yeah, piece of [expletive] -- tip to tail," he said. "Never liked that guy. I don't know how he is still a coach. It boggles my mind -- I honestly didn't know he was still coaching. I randomly saw a highlight, as you can tell I don't follow the [NHL] a whole lot. I watch some, but I am not a die hard, but I saw him on the screen and I couldn't believe it. ... It just shows how good Boston is, that they are playing [well despite] him."

Why is he such a bad coach?

"Just unprepared. ... Just unorganized," Battaglia said. "Maybe things have changed. I hope they have. But yeah, that was not my bread and butter there with him."

Battaglia finished that season with just 10 points in 62 games.

Cassidy and the Bruins will open the Stanley Cup Final a week from Monday.
