Holy Cross women's rower killed in crash involving team van, others injured

The Holy Cross women's rowing team was involved in a serious crash in Vero Beach, Florida Wednesday morning. According to both WBZ and WCVB, one member of the team was killed in the accident. Reports indicate at least 11 other people were injured.

One of two vans transporting the team reportedly collided with a pickup truck, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.

Holy Cross has released the following statement:

"This morning, members of the Holy Cross women's rowing team were involved in a serious crash while traveling in Florida. The College is in contact with authorities in Florida and is in the process of gathering more information. Holy Cross has been in touch with the families of those students and coaches and is offering support for all those involved. 

We ask that you keep all those involved and their families in your prayers at this time. 

For those needing to talk to someone, the Office of College Chaplains and the Counseling Center are both open today."

UPDATE: The member of the team who was killed in the crash has been identified as 20-year-old sophomore Grace Rett.
