Patriots fan photographed with Roger Goodell feels used by NFL

August 11, 2017 - 12:46 pm

Perhaps the biggest story of Thursday's preseason game was Roger Goodell unexpectedly coming to Gillette Stadium and posing for a picture with three Patriots fans.

Just over 12 hours after the fact, Josh, who was the middle man in the picture, called into OMF with Mike Mutnansky and John Tomase to explain what happened.

Josh said he and his two friends were approached by a member of the NFL on one of the ramps of the stadium to take the picture with Goodell and now they feel used as a prop.

“They wanted to use us as props I feel like to say, ‘Hey, look at New England Patriots fans welcoming back (Goodell),'” he said.

Despite the backlash on social media, Josh said any Patriots fan in the same position would have done the same thing.

“I can’t sit here and say that I like the guy because I don’t," he said. "I really don’t care for him. It’s just a photo op that came up and I think if most people were in the situation, most people would say, ‘Alright, why not?’”

Lastly, he believes the hatred towards Goodell stemming from Deflategate should go away following the Patriots winning Super Bowl LI.

"I feel like with the whole winning of the Super Bowl, Goodell having to hand the Super Bowl trophy over to us and handing over the MVP trophy to (Tom) Brady, I feel like we got our revenge," he said. "A lot of the stuff is in the past. ... It's time to move on I think. I don't like the guy still, but it is what it is now."

Josh Bisson, one of the three Patriots fans from last night's photo with Roger Goodell calls in to describe how he and his friends were setup by the NFL PR.
