Who's swinging the lumber? Xander Bogaerts hits pair of homers Wednesday night

August 23, 2018 - 3:33 pm

With so much attention on Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez, it might be easy for some people to overlook the great season Xander Bogaerts is having.

It was hard to miss him Wednesday night, though. Bogaerts belted a pair of solo home runs to help lift the Red Sox to a 10-4 win over the Indians, a victory that snapped a three-game losing streak.

The two homers gave Bogaerts his fifth and sixth RBIs of the series against Cleveland, and he followed it up with a two-run double in Thursday's series finale, a game the Red Sox led 7-0 as of this writing.

Bogaerts is now up to 19 home runs and 82 RBIs on the season and is well on his way to swinging the lumber right past his career highs of 21 and 89. His .886 OPS is also a career high.
