Who's swinging the lumber? Brandon Phillips caps off wild comeback with 2-run homer in Red Sox debut

Welcome to the Red Sox, Brandon Phillips.

After signing with the organization in late June and playing 44 games in the minors, the 37-year-old infielder finally got a chance to make his debut with the big club on Wednesday, and he certainly made the most of it.

After the Red Sox had come back from 7-1 down to tie the game, only to see the Braves retake the lead in the bottom of the eighth, Phillips stepped up to the plate with two outs in the top of the ninth and blasted a two-run homer 432 feet to left field to give Boston a 9-8 lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Phillips had already scored two runs earlier in the game, and also made a nice catch in the field. If he keeps swinging the lumber, he could end up forcing his way onto the Red Sox' postseason roster.
