The 99th Pitch Grand Slam Home Run Contest

Presented by Cumberland Farms

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

Valid March 18, 2019 through no earlier than September 29, 2019 (regular season) and no later than October 30, 2019 (should Boston make the Professional Baseball Playoffs)

 

These Contest rules are specific to the above Contest conducted by Entercom Massachusetts, LLC d/b/a WEEI and/or WVEI (collectively, the “Station”).  Except to the extent specifically set forth below with respect to this specific Contest, the Station’s general contest rules apply to this Contest as well.  A copy of these specific rules and the Station’s general contest rules are available at the Station’s studio at 20 Guest Street, Brighton, MA 02135 during regular business hours, and on the Station’s website at: www.WEEI.com/rules.  To the extent that the Station’s general contest rules differ from these rules, these rules will govern and control with respect to this Contest.

 

Special Entry/Eligibility Restrictions

  1. No purchase is necessary to enter or participate in this Contest.
  2. To be eligible to participate in this Contest, entrants must be legal U.S. residents of CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, or VT and must be 18 years or older as of date of entry in this Contest.
  3. Employees of Station, Cumberland Farms, Inc., Million Dollar Media, LLC (Contest Administrator), or any other sponsors participating in this Contest and their respective affiliated companies, advertising or promotional agencies and the immediate family and household members (as defined in the general contest rules) of each are ineligible to participate in this Contest.
  4. Maximum of one entry per email address during entire Contest Registration Period.

 

How to Enter & How to Win

  1. No purchase is necessary to enter or participate in this Contest.
  2. From 12:00am (ET) on March 18, 2019 through 12:00pm (ET) pm September 27, 2019 (or 12:00pm ET of Boston’s last scheduled playoff game date, if applicable, if Boston makes the post-season) (“Registration Period”), go to www.weei.com/contest or www.cumberlandfarms.com and follow the links to the entry form, or go directly to the entry form at www.CumberlandFarms99k.com.  Follow the online instructions provided to complete and submit the on-line entry form with all of the required information including name, complete address (including City, State, Zip), valid email address, age, and phone number(s) (including area code(s)).  All online entries must be received by 12:00pm (ET) on September 27, 2019 or 12:00pm ET of Boston’s last scheduled playoff game date, if applicable, to be eligible.   
  3. Qualifying games and game dates for this Contest shall be the (162) designated regular season Boston professional baseball games scheduled to be played between March 28, 2019 and September 29, 2019 and potentially up to a maximum of twenty (20) 2019 post season Boston professional baseball games scheduled to be played between October 1, 2019 and October 30, 2019 (“Qualifying Game(s)”). 
  4. Prior to each of the Qualifying Games, Station will randomly select one “Finalist” per Qualifying Game from among all entries received to the point in time of such drawing.  For each Qualifying Game, Finalists will be randomly selected from among all entries received in this Contest through 12:00pm (ET) on that game day for weekday games and through 12:00pm (ET) on the Friday prior to the scheduled weekend game date.
  5. Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Contest rules, each Finalist selected will be eligible to receive one (1) Qualifying Prize (as described in Section 21 below) will be pre-assigned to one (1) specific Qualifying Game.  The name of each Finalist assigned to each Qualifying Game may be announced on-air on WEEI 93.7FM (or its network affiliates) prior to, during and/or after the commencement of the broadcast of the Qualifying Game to which they were assigned.  Finalists will not be notified in advance in any other manner that they were selected nor be notified of which designated Qualifying Game they have been assigned to. Finalists do not need to be listening to win.
  6. If a Finalist does not win the Grand Prize or one of the bonus cash prizes as (as described in section 12 below), he/she will be returned to the entry pool and will be eligible to be selected again as a Finalist for a future game.  If a Finalist wins the Grand Prize or a Bonus Prize, he/she is disqualified from again being selected as a Finalist for the remainder of the Contest.
  7. Grand Prize Contest – Grand Slam Home Run
  1. Subject to the conditions set forth in these Contest rules, if a batter on Boston’s professional baseball team hits a grand slam home run on the 99th pitch thrown to a Boston Batter in the game, then the assigned Finalist for that game will be awarded the Grand Prize (as described in Section 24 below), subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Contest rules. If the Boston professional baseball team does not hit a Grand Slam Home Run on the 99th pitch thrown to a Boston Batter during a Qualifying Game, that game’s assigned Finalist will not win the grand prize in the Contest (but may be entitled to win a Bonus Prize – see below). 
  2. For purposes of this Contest, a Grand Slam Home Run is defined as an official home run as ruled by the league while there are base runners on all (3) bases – resulting in (4) runs scoring on the play.
  3. The hit must be officially ruled as a 4-run Home Run in the box score and official statistics of the applicable league.
  1. Inside the park home runs will be eligible to contribute to the winning Grand Slam Home Run provided there are no errors committed on the play, and the hit is officially ruled as a Home Run.
  1. Bonus Prize Contests
  1. Home Run Bonus Prize Contest – Subject to the conditions set forth in these Contest rules, if the Boston professional baseball team’ batter hits any Home Run on the 99th pitch thrown to a Boston Batter in the game during any Qualifying Game which home run is NOT also a grand slam home run per Section 11 above, then the assigned Finalist for that Qualifying Game will be awarded the $999 Home Run Bonus Prize (as described in Section 21 below), subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Contest rules.  If the Boston professional baseball team does not complete a home run during the 99th pitch of the game thrown to a Boston batter during that Qualifying Game, that Qualifying Game’s Finalist will not win the bonus prize in this Contest.  For the purpose of this Contest, the hit must be officially ruled as a Home Run in the box score and official statistics of the applicable league.
    1. Inside the park home runs will be eligible to contribute to the winning Home Run provided there are no errors committed on the play, and the hit is officially ruled as a Home Run.
  2. Single Bonus Prize Contest – Subject to the conditions set forth in these Contest rules, if the Boston professional baseball team’ batter hits any Single on the 99th pitch thrown to a Boston Batter in the game during any Qualifying Game, then the assigned Finalist for that Qualifying Game will be awarded the Single Bonus Prize (as described in Section 22 below), subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Contest rules.  If the Boston professional baseball team does not complete a single during the 99th pitch of the game thrown to a Boston batter during that Qualifying Game, that Qualifying Game’s Finalist will not win the Single Bonus Prize in this Contest.  For the purpose of this Contest, the hit must be officially ruled as a Single in the box score and official statistics of the applicable league.
  3. Double Bonus Prize Contest – Subject to the conditions set forth in these Contest rules, if the Boston professional baseball team’ batter hits any Double on the 99th pitch thrown to a Boston Batter in the game during any Qualifying Game, then the assigned Finalist for that Qualifying Game will be awarded the Double Bonus Prize (as described in Section 23 below), subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Contest rules.  If the Boston professional baseball team does not complete a double during the 99th pitch of the game thrown to a Boston batter during that Qualifying Game, that Qualifying Game’s Finalist will not win the Double Bonus Prize in this Contest.  For the purpose of this Contest, the hit must be officially ruled as a Double in the box score and official statistics of the applicable league.
  4. Triple Bonus Prize Contest – Subject to the conditions set forth in these Contest rules, if the Boston professional baseball team’ batter hits any Triple on the 99th pitch thrown to a Boston Batter in the game during any Qualifying Game, then the assigned Finalist for that Qualifying Game will be awarded the Triple Bonus Prize (as described in Section 24 below), subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Contest rules.  If the Boston professional baseball team does not complete a Triple during the 99th pitch of the game thrown to a Boston batter during that Qualifying Game, that Qualifying Game’s Finalist will not win the Triple Bonus Prize in this Contest.  For the purpose of this Contest, the hit must be officially ruled as a Triple in the box score and official statistics of the applicable league.

 

  1. Effect of Rescheduled/Cancelled/Incomplete Qualifying Games:
    1. If a Qualifying Game is cancelled, without being rescheduled, for any reason prior to becoming an official game, all statistics are removed from the official score book and no prize claims will be acknowledged for that Qualifying Game, even if a prize would have otherwise been awarded pursuant to Sections 11 and 12 above.
    2. If a Qualifying Game is rescheduled to game date prior to December 31, 2019, then that assigned Finalist and Qualifying Game, as rescheduled, shall be eligible to win under the terms of these Contest rules. 
    3. Any rain-shortened Qualifying Game, or any Qualifying Games that are less than 9-innings, shall be eligible for the potential prizes in these Contest rules as long as the Qualifying Game is considered an official game (minimum 5-innings), and the stats of the game are officially recorded by the league.
  2. Qualifying plays must be recorded in the game stats of a regulation game played by the Boston professional baseball team.  If any Qualifying Game is called and therefore not a regulation game, the prize will not be awarded for that Qualifying Game.  If any Qualifying Game is suspended and play resumed, or rescheduled to a future date, so that the Qualifying Game is designated a regulation game, even if the rescheduled date of such game falls after the Registration Period, such Qualifying Game shall be deemed eligible for the purposes of the Contest in accordance with Section 13 above.
  3. If there is no a grand slam home run at the 99th pitch to a Boston batter during the entire Contest period, then no grand prize will be awarded in this Contest.  If there is no home run at the 99th pitch to a Boston batter during the entire Contest period, then no Home Run Bonus Prize will be awarded in this Contest.  If there is no single at the 99th pitch to a Boston batter during the entire Contest period, then no Single Bonus Prize will be awarded in this Contest.  If there is no double at the 99th pitch to a Boston batter during the entire Contest period, then no Double Bonus Prize will be awarded in this Contest.  If there is no triple at the 99th pitch to a Boston batter during the entire Contest period, then no Triple Bonus Prize will be awarded in this Contest.
  4. If a Finalist is entitled to a grand prize in this Contest, he/she shall not be entitled to any bonus prize in this Contest.  For each Qualifying Game, only a grand prize or a bonus prize (or no prize at all) will be awarded, but in no event will both be awarded for the same Qualifying Game.
  5. In the event that a Prize Winner or Finalist is disqualified, for any reason, at any time, the Prize that he/she may have otherwise been entitled to will not be re-awarded and will remain the property of Station or its designee.
  6. Grand Prize or Bonus prize winners will be required to sign and return a completed IRS W-9 form, one or more affidavits and/or liability release agreements within 3 business days prior to being entitled to any prize in this Contest.  Failure to do so by that deadline will result in automatic forfeiture of any prize in this Contest.

 

Prizes

  1. Qualifying Prize:  Each of the up to 162 verified regular season game Finalists and up to twenty (20) post season game Finalists will receive one (1) $30 Gift Card redeemable for products at all Cumberland Farms locations.  Gift card does not expire. 
  2. Grand Prize:  A maximum of one (1) Grand Prize will be available for award per Qualifying Game to the one Finalist assigned to that Qualifying Game if the grand prize winning requirements occur.  Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Contest rules, each grand prize winner (if any) will receive $99,999.00 payable via company check.  There may be no grand prizes awarded in this Contest or, in the unlikely event of a grand prize winner for every Qualifying Game, there could be up to 182 grand prize winners in this Contest. 
  3. $999 Home Run Bonus Prize: A maximum of one (1) $999 Home Run Bonus Prize will be available for award per Qualifying Game to the one Finalist assigned to that Qualifying Game if the Home Run Bonus Prize winning requirements occur (as described in Section 12 above).  Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Contest rules, each Home Run Bonus Prize winner (if any) will receive $999.00 payable via company check.  There may be no Home Run Bonus prize awarded in this Contest or, in the unlikely event of a Home Run Bonus Prize winner for every Qualifying Game, there could be up to 182 bonus prize winners in this Contest. 
  4. Single Bonus Prize: A maximum of one (1) Single Bonus Prize will be available for award per Qualifying Game to the one Finalist assigned to that Qualifying Game if the Single Bonus Prize winning requirements occur (as described in Section 12 above).  Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Contest rules, each Single Bonus Prize winner (if any) will receive coffee for six (6) months awarded in the form of a Cumberland Farms gift card valued at $180.  There may be no Single Bonus Prize awarded in this Contest or, in the unlikely event of a Single Bonus Prize winner for every Qualifying Game, there could be up to 182 Single Bonus Prize winners in this Contest.
  5. Double Bonus Prize: A maximum of one (1) Double Bonus Prize will be available for award per Qualifying Game to the one Finalist assigned to that Qualifying Game if the Double Bonus Prize winning requirements occur (as described in Section 12 above).  Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Contest rules, each bonus prize winner (if any) will receive coffee for a year awarded in the form of a Cumberland Farms gift card valued at $360.  There may be no Double Bonus Prize awarded in this Contest or, in the unlikely event of a bonus prize winner for every Qualifying Game, there could be up to 182 Double Bonus Prize winners in this Contest.
  6. Triple Bonus Prize: A maximum of one (1) Triple Bonus Prize will be available for award per Qualifying Game to the one Finalist assigned to that Qualifying Game if the Triple Bonus Prize winning requirements occur (as described in Section 12 above).  Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Contest rules, each Triple Bonus Prize winner (if any) will receive gas for a year awarded in the form of a Cumberland Farms gift card valued at $2,080.  This amount was calculated based on $2.00 per gallon multiplied by 20 gallons weekly for fifty-two (52) weeks.  There may be no Triple Bonus Prize awarded in this Contest or, in the unlikely event of a Triple Bonus Prize winner for every Qualifying Game, there could be up to 182 Triple Bonus Prize winners in this Contest.

 

Odds of Winning

  1. The odds of becoming a Finalist in the Contest depend on the number of eligible entrants received and the number of drawings each entrant is included in.  The earlier you entry this Contest, the greater number of drawing that you will be included in and the greater your chance of winning.
  2. Each qualifying Finalist will be awarded a Qualifying Prize.  The odds of a Finalist winning either a Grand Prize or Bonus Prize depends on the performance of the individual batters during the 99th pitch thrown to a Boston Batter in the Qualifying Game that a Finalist is assigned to.

Other Rules

  1. This Contest will be promoted and announced by Station during certain professional baseball game broadcasts that are carried by affiliated and unrelated radio stations that are part of the WEEI radio network and/or baseball network.  Accordingly, although listeners of those radio stations and their internet broadcast streams or websites and other Sponsor websites may enter this Contest directly or through links to the website above (www.cumberlandfarms99k.com), this contest is being conducted solely by Entercom Massachusetts, LLC and administered by Million Dollar Media.
